1. Technology at Christ's Hospital - Session this Saturday

The School appointed its first ICT Director last year and he has put together a Strategy which has been approved by the Council of Almoners. He would very much like to obtain external input to validate this Strategy and to establish a panel of advisors or a number of individual contacts who can provide advice, over a period of time, on its implementation.

To initiate this, there will be a session at Christ's Hospital on Saturday 1st December from approximately 11am until 2.30pm including lunch (and band parade). The objectives of this session will be to present the current ICT Strategy, workshop its main features, devise next actions and to determine whether and how a panel of advisors can assist. (After this first meeting, it is hoped that the panel can mostly act on a virtual basis.)

If you would like to contribute to this, please email me in the first instance at steverwebb@47woodvale.fsnet.co.uk.

2. Cornwall Old Blues

For various reasons, the Cornwall Old Blues have not met for some considerable time. However thanks to the enterprise of Mike Gibson MGibson829@aol.com, there is to be a lunchtime get together at the Norway Inn, Perran-ar-Worthal (near Truro), on Thursday, 29th November. Mike has organised similar recent gatherings in Plymouth and Devon. Anyone wishing to attend should let Mike know at the above email address or "simply turn up" at about 11:30 for 12:00.

3. CH Band Calendar 2002

One of the pupils has designed and printed a 2002 calendar. I understand that he did this all by himself (not bad for a 14 year pupil!). It's been professionally printed and costs £3.50 (with £1.50 p&p). It's being sold to raise funds for the school band trip to Pasadena. The photographs are all recent professional photos taken of the band on various occasions, apart from 2 historical band photos. I am told he has done a good job of it.

Cheques should be made payable to Christ's Hospital Music Department. The calendars can be ordered or more information can be obtained from telephone: 01403 247438, fax: 01403 276470, email: music@christs-hospital.org.uk

4. Victoria & Albert Museum

The Victoria & Albert Museum have an exhibition running in the British Galleries from November 2001 to May 2002. One of the exhibits is a preliminary sketch that Verrio produced prior to the large painting in Dining Hall. The commentary mentions "... Christ's Hospital, the charity school...".
