Lawra Barnett (néeLeslie-Miller, 2’s 73–80) is currently working on contract at RAF Cottesmore for the Defence Housing Executive, organising projects for new houses for service personnel.
Roger Bartlett (Mid B, Pe A 56–64) is a senior barrister at 1, Harcourt Buildings, Temple. Piers Ashworth QC (Ma A, Ba A 43–50, Governor & Almoner) is next door at 2, Harcourt Buildings.
Peter Bartram (Ba A 49–59, Governor) is President of the City Research Group and Chairman of two of its affiliated companies and of the Financial Services Marketing Association. He is a Fellow of the UK Market Research Society, which he formerly chaired.

The Rev Alan Bing (CB 68–74) has been appointed priest-in-charge of Ulverston in the diocese of Carlisle.
Leslie Blohm (Col A 70–77) is head of the Chancery department at St John’s Chambers, Bristol. He also specialises in property litigation.
Rachel Bourne (Hertford 77–84) is Lecturer in Electronic Engineering at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.
The Rev Canon Gordon Bridger (CB 41–50) is a member of the Court of Middlesex University.
Robert H Burnell (CH 40s) is Professor of Chemistry at Laval University, Quebec.
J F Causton (CH 90s) entered Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, in September.
Timothy Clayson (CH 60s) is a barrister and Recorder. Based in Leeds, he specialises in general crime and personal injury litigation.
Tim Collard (Col B 72–78) has returned from China and is now in charge of restructuring the Foreign Office’s paybill system.
Steven Connor (Mid B 66–71) has taught at Birkbeck College, University of London, since 1979 and is currently Professor of Modern Literature and Theory and Pro-Vice-Master for International and Research Students.
Dr Brian Creamer (Ba B 38–43, Governor & Almoner) gives his name to Brian Creamer House, on Lambeth Road in London, which accommodates students of St Thomas’s Hospital.
Bill Crowther (CH c. 80–87) is Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Manchester.
Howard Davies (CH 56–63) has been shortlisted for the Olivier Award for Best Director.
Roberto Del Pellegrino (Pe B 69–76) is an IT systems programmer with Lloyd’s of London.
George Du Boulay (Pe B 33–40) is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Medical Statistics at De Montfort University.
The Rt Rev David Evans (La A 50–57) is International Co-ordinator of the Evangelical Fellowship of the Anglican Communion.
Pippa Faunce (7’s, 8’s, Ba A 80–87) married David Smith in October 1998 (thereby becoming Pippa Faunce-Smith) and moved to the Scottish Highlands.
Diana Garnham (6’s 66–71) was one of the speakers at the Royal College of Nursing’s Nursing Research Conference in April.
Robert Giles (CH 75–?82, Senior Grecian) married Anthea Seager on 1 July in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin. His father, Canon John Giles, officiated.
David J M Green QC (Th B 64–71) has been appointed a Recorder on the South Eastern Circuit.
Dr Ansar M Haroun (Mid A 59–66) is a forensic psychiatrist in San Diego. His specialities include child and military forensic psychiatry, bad behaviour, criminal responsibility, terrorism and South Asian culture.
The Rev Dr Charles Hedley (Ma B 57–66) conducted a service of thanksgiving for the life of Lady Plowden, former Chairman of the Independent Broadcasting Authority, on 15 January.
Dr Robin Hillyard (Pe A 62–68) is on sabbatical as President of Rubecula Software (which he founded) and is Project Manager at Jarg Corporation, “creator of the next generation of search engine.”
Howard Hull (Mid B 65–72), director of John Ruskin’s home, ‘Brantwood’, by Coniston Water, delivered a lecture to the Ruskin Society after its annual meeting on 8 February.
Paul Kellar (La B 57–66, Governor) received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Production Europe Technology Awards held at the 1998 International Broadcast Convention. From 1975 he led the team of engineers at Quantel responsible for many breakthroughs in creative digital imaging technology for television, film and print. Named on more than twenty Quantel patents, he has also won the MacRobert Award (England’s top engineering prize) and two Emmys.
The Rev Jonathan Kester (La A 79–85) has been appointed Vicar of St Mary’s, Great Ilford, in the diocese of Chelmsford.
Edward Kinnersly (Mid A 85–92) is a postgraduate student of computer science at Bristol University.
Professor Lance Lanyon (Ba A 53/4–61) was appointed CBE in the New Year Honours. He has retired as Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of London but remains Principal of the Royal Veterinary College.
Christopher Leeds (Horsham Staff 72–77) inherited a baronetcy in 1983, since when he has been a Senior Lecturer at the University of Nancy.
Meurig Lloyd (Ma A 89–94) is Rag President (a sabbatical post) at Bath University Students’ Union.
The Rev Peter Lockyer (Pe A 71–77) has been appointed Rector of Ewhurst, and Bishop’s Nigeria Link Officer, in the diocese of Guildford.
Mark Lyne (Mid B 70–76) is a senior commercial and common law barrister in the chambers of Sir Ivan Lawrence QC. He specialises in private family and childcare work, personal injury, professional and medical negligence, inheritance, defamation and obscenity, licensing and appeals, plus commercial work with a Chancery component.
Professor Bryan Magee (Ba A 41–48) has been elected to a Visiting Fellowship at Peterhouse, Cambridge.
Vaughn Marles (Pe A 90–97) is Environment and Services Officer on the student union council at University College, London.
The Rev Christopher Martin (La A 56–63) has been appointed Chaplain, Lyon Anglican Church, diocese of Europe. This is not the first time he has worked in France: before ordination he was based in Paris 1974–78 as an educational publisher for the Oxford University Press’s English as a Foreign Language division.
Dr George Matcham (Pe B 63–70) is senior vice–president of the American agrochemical company Celgro. He took his doctorate at the University of Wales, did post-doctoral work at the University of Miami, took a junior faculty position at Cambridge, moved on to Shell’s agrochemical research centre and has been in the US since 1988.
Simon McKie (Th B 67–74) is the founder and Principal of McKie & Co, a private client tax consultancy which also advises solicitors, accountants and financial institutions. He chairs the Inheritance Tax and Trusts Committee of the Faculty of Taxation (having chaired the Faculty itself 1995–97) and is vice chairman of the Capital Tax Committee of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. In 1999 he was called to the Bar.
William Miller (La B 44–53) is Managing Director of The English Agency (Japan) Ltd, one of Japan’s leading literary agencies, mainly arranging for translation into Japanese.
Alderman Sir Richard Nichols (Pe B 47–55, Almoner) received HM The Queen on her arrival at St Paul’s Cathedral for the Service of the Order of St Michael and St George on 14 July.
Ariel Northway (CH c. 1980) is Chief Technology Officer of Crystalynx, an internet business-to-business trading company based in Dublin.
Vytautas Paskunas (Mid A 94–96) is a doctoral student of pure mathematics at Nottingham University.
Simon Pott (Th A 59–67) was chairman of the judges for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors ‘Awards 2000’ scheme.
Barry Procter (La B 69–74) was IT director of 2Bet Ltd and is now an IT security consultant with IBM, based in Porstmouth. He is currently assigned to an internal IBM project for the CLS Bank, a newly formed clearing bank for the Continuous Linked Settlement (CLS) of foreign exchange between Europe, America and the Far East.
Chris Redgate (Woodwind teacher, Hertford, c. 1980) is Director of the Musicians’ Christian Fellowship and a lecturer at the London Bible College. He is in demand as a solo oboist and chamber music performer as well as in the recording studio both on CD and for radio.
Adrian Reith (Pe A 66–73) is Managing Director of Radioville, a specialist radio advertising agency whose clients include Coca-Cola, Scottish Widows, HMV and Esquire.
The Rev John Robson (Horsham Chaplain 62–80) officiated at two thanksgiving services attended by the Queen Mother, for Mrs Dick Francis (28 November) and Lady Elizabeth Basse (2 February).
Martial Rose (CH 33–39) was formerly Principal of King Alfred’s College, Winchester, wrote its history and is now an Honorary Fellow. The college’s new Martial Rose Library received an RIBA Award in June.
Dennis Silk (Ma A 42–50, President CH Club 90–95) addressed an MCC dinner on 19 October.
Lord Simon of Highbury (Mid A 50–58, Senior Grecian, Governor & Almoner) is working in the Cabinet Office on the Civil Service reforms and is also a member of the Treasury’s Public Services Productivity Panel. He has joined the boards of Unilever and LEK and is a senior adviser at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and a member of its European advisory board.
The Rev John Springbett (La B 56–65) has been appointed Team Rector of St Michael’s, Shelf, with St Aidan’s, Buttershaw, in the diocese of Bradford.
Francis Steele (Th B 66–72) sings bass with the Tallis Scholars, “the leading proponents of Renaissance sacred music today”.
Professor William Tarnow–Mordi (La B 61–68) is Head of Neonatology at Westmead Hospital, New South Wales.
Roger D K Thomas (Pe B 52–60) is John Williamson Nevin Professor of Palaeontology at Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Natasha Tilley (Col B 82–88) is studying Media Production at Northumbria University.
Peter Vezey (Col B 58–65) is a director of the public relations consultancy Barclay Stratton.
David Wansey (La B 62–71) is Headmaster of Durlston Court, New Milton, Hampshire.
Jonathan Wansey (La B 62–71), David’s twin brother, is Headmaster of Crosfields School, Reading.
Mark Wardell (Staff 92–97) is Assistant Organist of Chichester Cathedral and Director of Music at the Prebendal School, Chichester.
Jon Watson Miller (La A 72–79) is Managing Director of Team Bracken, a motorcycle racing outfit. He has ridden for HRC in the Paris–Dakar Rally and ran a Honda Britain team which finished first, second and fourth in class in the 1993 Rallye de Tunisie.
Professor David Wells (Mid A 51–60) is Honorary Secretary of the Modern Humanities Research Association, Secretary-General of the International Federation for Modern Languages and Literatures (FILLM) and Germanic Editor of The Year Work in Modern Language Studies.
Chanaka Wickremasinghe (Th A 75–82) was Senior Research Officer of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law until last August when he became Lecturer in Law at Bristol University, specialising in public international law.
Michael Wintle (Mid A 62–70) is Head of the Department of European Studies and Senior Lecturer in European Economic and Social History at Hull University.
