A musical composed by Christ’s Hospital organist Adrian Bawtree (Pe A 79–86) and words by Jonathan Jeffery. Young voices sing the tunes and tell the story of the experience of the Battle of Trafalgar narrated by Lieutenant John Pasco the signal lieutenant serving under Lord Nelson.

This CD has been recorded in an ambitious collaboration with the Royal Marine Band, the Horsham Children’s Choir and the Christ’s Hospital Junior Choir. It is an incredible story of heroism, love and war, in which the French, Spanish and British are all battling one common adversary, the Sea. The production is set to coincide with the two-hundredth anniversary of this historic battle.

Adrian Bawtree’s strongly rhythmic and often lyrical score has a strong sense of swelling seas, and feelings of fear, excitement and loss. The music matches Jonathan Jeffery’s script in avoiding gung-ho triumphalism
