Hertford Speech Day
Photo taken sometime between 1965 and 1970
Caroline Payne (née Barrett) writes:
In the foreground are The Lord Mayor & Miss West (DR - the Head). The procession is walking back from the Chapel, past the pavilion (I think. It was a VERY long time ago!!)

Hertford Revels
Caroline Payne (née Barrett) writes:
Midsummer Revels was taken in 1970. Each year on Midsummer’s Day the Upper Fourth down (I think) of 6’s (no other houses) would celebrate. The night before the senior girls would lay out our towels and some lollies (oops, been in Australia too long—make that sweets) in a circle in the middle of the playing field. First thing next morning we had to run around the circle (3 times?), do some handstands, and bow down (as in the photograph). The sweets would be soggy and ant-infested.

Ascension Day Rounders Match
Caroline Payne (née Barrett) writes:
Ascension Day shows the 6’s rounders team preparing to bat at the annual Ascension Day Rounders Match. Note the sexy Ashbourne Hats—not part of a fancy dress, but what we had to wear for sports. I can put names to most of the faces.
